The vision and establishment of this website is motivated by the clear and apparent need for creative professionals representative of under resourced communities but providing excellent creative services to have increased opportunities for economic development and enhanced access to artistic supports, services and information. This website was created and is managed by East of the River Artists.

JHI Foster BeyJHI is a very dynamic multi disciplined artist who often addresses social issues in his work. He has contributed to the lives of many youth East of the River and throughout the District as a mentor, youth program coordinator and arts instructor. His story is very inspiring.

Omekongo DibingaOmékongo Dibinga is a Les Brown Platinum Motivational Speaker, diversity educator, trilingual poet, CNN contributor, and positive rapper. He is the Founder and CEO of Free Your Mind Publishing. His Urban Music Award winning work has best been described by Nikki Giovanni as "outstanding, exciting, and new while being very old." Rik FreemanRik Freeman was born in Athens, GA in 1956, and began his professional career as an Artist/Muralist in Washington, DC in 1989, where he has painted numerous murals throughout the metropolitan area. Including his most recent commissions Shaw Rhythms, in 2003 for the new Washington Convention Center Washington, DC and Arl@200, in 2002 at the Arlington County Courthouse Arlington, VA.
